[Updated: September 23, 2024] Meiyazhagan starring Karthi and Arvind Swami in the lead is an upcoming comedy drama that takes place over a night, and the film directed by 96 fame C Prem Kumar is all set to release in theaters on September 27, 2024. Meiyazhagan has Govind Vasantha for music, and the composer with this film's album broke the 10 year spell of single release culture in Tamil cinema. 

The Meiyazhagan album with all 6 tracks was released as a whole without any singles, and the makers even held a Meiyazhagan audio launch event to mark the same. This event was televised to the public for the first time via the Vijay TV Tamil channel on Saturday.

Actor Suriya who has produced Meiyazhagan alongside wife Jyotika under 2D Entertainment, spoke during the close of the ceremony, and a highlight of Suriya's speech was the star fact-bombing the Tamil audience about the in-trend patterns.

To the unversed, the Tamil cine audience, atleast the ones with the loudest voices on social media, seem more focussed on the box-office performance of a film rather than the content of it. Similarly, competitive cine media coverage also means that reviews of movies are done at such a speedy rate, that the onlookers are pushed into wondering, if all of the regurgitated opinions are formed only after watching the movie at peace.

Meiyazhagan is the opposite of what one would call a high octane movie, and anticipating it falling to such treatment, star actor, producer Suriya had this to say,

"Watch the (Meiyazhagan) movie only as a movie. How much the film does commercially, has collected this much, that much (at the box-office) is a problem you guys need not have. Please let that (problem) not be yours. Let us be ready to celebrate the film alone (in theaters). Let us view the movie, need not be too enthusiastic about reviewing it. Movies like Meiyazhagan are rare to come by. So please come, 27th enjoy your Meiyazhagan."

Meiyazhagan also releases in Telugu as Sathyam Sundaram on September 28. Prime Media is releasing the film in USA and Canada. The movie has Sri Divya playing female lead, and also stars Rajkiran, Swathi Konde, Devadarshini, Jayaprakash, Sriranjani, Ilavarasu, Karunakaran, Saran Shakthi, Raichal Rabecca, Merku Thodarchi Malai Antony, Rajkumar, Indumathy Manikandan, Rani Samyuktha, Kayal Subramani, Ashok Pandian, among others.
