Ajith to get back to motor racing in 2025, updates FMSCI

Tamil star actor Ajith Kumar, who mononymously goes by Ajith or AK, is known among his fans for his love of motor car racing. In 2010, Ajith participated in the MRF racing series, and is one among the handful of Indians to race in the international arena and Formula championships.

Ajith, 53, is currently part of two upcoming movies namely Vidaamuyarchi and Good Bad Ugly. While the films are expected to release next year, it has now been revealed that Ajith is getting back to racing in 2025. The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), took to their social media page on Tuesday to announce Ajith's return to racing.

Posting a series of Ajith's racing photos headed by the actor's signature helmet, FMSCI wrote, "Indian film actor Ajith is keen on making a comeback to motor racing. He is planning on participating in the European GT4 championship in 2025. Negotiations are on with Teams based in the UK, Europe & Middle East. Sponsors too are excited and keen on him coming on board. Hopefully, Ajith will have an update on this in the near future."

Ajith started his racing career in motorcycles taking part in the National Motorcycle Racing Championship. Post intensive training programs in the pro-karts and following his successful participation in the National Single-Seater Racing Championship, he then progressed to the international arena by participating in the Asian Formula BMW Championship, and the British Formula 3 Championship - securing podium finishes at the Donington Park and Knockhill circuits and then moved on to participate in the FIA Formula 2 Championship.

FMSCI President, Akbar Ebrahim who had mentored Ajith through his racing career said, “I’m really happy to hear Ajith is making a comeback to the sport. He is very talented and extremely passionate in whatever he does and is a true brand ambassador for the sport. We wish him the very best in his future endeavors."
